A rescue ship of an NGO has saved lives of 250 migrants who were in danger of being overwhelmed by the sea near the Libyan coast. The ship of  an NGO Proactiva open arms rescued the African migrants who were soon transferred to an Italian coast guard ship which had alerted the NGO about the possibility of migrants being caught in the dangerous situation. Giving information Proactiva Open Arms spokesperson Laura Lanuza says that the NGO’s boat rescued the African migrants from two small rubber vessels that were at risk of being overwhelmed by the sea. Lanuza says its single rescue ship, a converted fishing boat, has rescued around 2,000 migrants so far this year.

Proactiva Open Arms, NGO is based in Badalona  or Barcelona in Spain. Its main mission is to rescue refugees from the sea that arrive in Europe fleeing wars, persecution or poverty. Born from a rescue and first aid at sea company with extensive experience in the Spanish coasts, the NGO was formed in 2015.
