Mumbai based Swades Foundation which is committed to provide Drinking Water facility in the houses of poor and needy, has provided potable water through tap in 124 houses in rural Maharashtra on Saturday. Rohinton Soli "Ronnie" Screwvala an entrepreneur and philanthropist, in a tweet stated it. He stated that his organization Swades Foundation has been working on providing potable water through taps in each home. Swades Foundation has provided the drinking water facility in more than 40,000 homes in 2019 alone.

Swades Foundation has been trying to provide Drinking Water facility in rural homes for the last five years. Ronnie Screwvala and his wife Zarine Screwvala founded  Swades Foundation in 2013. Swades Foundaiton has a mission to empower rural lives through a unique 360-degree development model which covers four key thematic areas namely Health & Nutrition, Education, Water & Sanitation and Economic Development.

It may be mentioned here that Swades shares the name with famous Bollywood film, Swades released in 2004. The film focused on how an NRI Mohan Bhargava (played by Shah Rukh Khan) returns to India and is inspired by the harsh realities faced by the people in his village to become an agent of change.
