The ongoing protests by farmers over three farm laws has been getting support from within the country and outside by the passing day. The latest support to the protesting farmers has come from Climate and environmental activist Greta Thunberg. In her tweet, the internationally acclaimed activist has stated,   “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India”. She has 4.7M followers.Earlier, Pop star Rihanna came out in support of protesting farmers thereby bringing global attention to the farmers’ protest which has completed two months. Adult movie actress Mia Khalifa also lent support to farmers’ protest.

After they lent support to plight of farmers apart from US vice president’s niece Meena Harris, India has accused "foreign individuals" and celebrities of "sensationalism" and lent support to protesting farmers.

MEA’s statement:

The External Affairs Ministry on Wednesday issued a statement stating that parliament had passed "reformist legislation relating to the agricultural sector" after a full debate and discussion.. The MEA said that before rushing to comment on such matters, urged that facts be ascertained and proper understanding of issues at hand be undertaken. "Temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible," the statement said.
