A 26 year old wheelchair bound woman has urged people to sign her petition through change.org demanding that all the restaurants be made accessible to differently challenged. Virali Modi in her petition narrated people's apathy towards the differently challenged in the country.
Modi said,"I felt helpless, humiliated and angry". Modi was denied entry into a restaurant in Mumbai because the restaurant staff refused to help her up a flight of steps. "This is so unfair! I want to lead a normal life. I want to go to restaurants and have a good time with my family and friends". "What people like me need are disabled friendly infrastructure. Infrastructure as simple as a portable ramp".
Modi urged people to sign her petition seeking the National Restaurants Association of India to convert restaurants into wheelchair friendly restaurants.
"If thousands of people sign my petition, we can get Riyaaz Amlani, the President of the National Restaurants Association to set a precedent for all the members to make their restaurants wheelchair friendly". I don’t want to be confined to my home. I want to travel, eat out and socialise just like you do.
