Chetna, Delhi based NGO has expressed surprise over not getting response to RTI application on 10 lakh tree plantation programme. Chetna NGO had run `where is my oxygen’ campaign in Delhi after the authorities decided to cut several trees in South Delhi last year.

Chetna head, Anil Sood however, wrote a letter to Urban Development Ministry Secretary and Delhi Chief Secretary stating that only 2. 5 lakh plants have been planted against the ten lakh plants promised by DDA under its plantation programme. Sood futher stated that except Dwarka as 41,000 trees and 1.96 Lakh shrubs were planted last year. “There is no response to my RTI from other executive engineers about plantation and each one is transferring my RTI to other departments within”, he wrote and suggested that all the announcements made are just to create media hype.
