For Bindu Ammini activist and other women activists it came as a shock on Tuesday when Bindu Ammini was attacked by a member of a Hindu outfit for attempting to go to Sabarimala temple shrie. Bindu Ammini caught the newspaper and news channel's attention for creating a history ealier this year when she she and Kanakdurga entered the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. In fact somebody filmed the action of the hindu outfit member and put it on social media. This video has gone viral now.
Bindu Ammini was part of a woman's team headed for the Sabarimala temple to offer prayers at the shrine of Lord Ayyappa.
The member of the Hindu outfit identified as Srinath Padmanabhan used pepper or chilli spray to attack woman activist. What was most shocking that the incident took place just outside the police commissionerate. The police has taken Padmanabhan taken into custody while Bindu Amini has been taken to a nearby hospital.
The Sabarimala issue has been making headlines eversince women tried to entre into the temple. After the Supreme Court order last year, several women activists had tried to enter the shrine inspire of massive opposition. In fact gender rights activist Trupti Desai had led the activists team earlier to enter into the temple where women of menstrual age were not allowed to enter into the Sabarimala temple, Bindu Ammini and Kankadurga were the first two women to enter the shrine, despite massive opposition. Bindu Ammini was part of the team led by gender rights activist Trupti Desai who was taken to the city police commisionerate soonafter her arrival at the airport.
