Ahead of International women’s day, Zimbabwe’s first lady Dr Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa has recently taken an initiative to donate sewing machines to women in cotton farming in UMP district. She has been undertaking several projects with a focus on women empowerment and rural development.  Through her Angel of Hope Foundation, the First Lady has taken several initiatives. One such initiative is donation of sewing machines to women involved in cotton farming from the UMP district to start a sewing club.

Impressed by her zeal and conviction, women in the Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe district of Mashonaland East Province, have expressed their gratitude to her. Another important initiative is the launch of sewing pilot project at a function held at Nhakiwe Vocational Centre. The programme will be replicated across Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa who is the patron of women cotton growers, contacted a consortium of international partners for financial help for these poor and needy women. The First Lady has urged women to work hard to transform their livelihoods. An incredible effort indeed.
