The Centre has announced the list of Padma awardees which included names of nine social activists including one posthumous and two women.  This year, the Padma awards have been conferred to the distinguished personalities for their achievements in different fields. This year, the government has also conferred the award to some personalities who have done exceptional work but may well known. Among the prominent ones are  Sanjeev Kapoor, singers Kailash Kher and Anuradha Paudwal. 

Among the social activists, who have been named for Padma Shri include two women. These social activists are  Daripalli Ramaiah (Telangana), Girish Bhardwaj (Karnataka), Karimul Hak (West Bengal), Bipin Ganatra(West Bengal), Smt. Nivedita Raghunath Bhide(Tamil Nadu), Appasaheb Dharmadhikari (Maharashtra), Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal(Punjab), Dr. Mapuskar (Posthumous) (Maharashtra) and Smt. Anuradha Koirala (Foreigner) (Nepal)
